Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 technical details revealed

The Himalayan 450 will be offered in three variants: Base, Pass and Summit.

Royal Enfield is gearing up to launch the new 'Himalayan 450' later this month. The bike will be powered by the new ‘Sherpa 450’ engine, details of which have now been revealed.

The new Himalayan is powered by a 451.65cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, slightly larger than the outgoing 411cc unit. It produces 40 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and 40 Nm @ 5,500 rpm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via a slip-and-assist clutch.

The new Himalayan is a next-gen ADV based on a new twin-spar frame, with an open-cartridge upside-down fork at the front and an adjustable mono-shock at the rear. The standard seat height is 825-845 mm, but it can be lowered to 805-825 mm with the lower seat.

The bike rides on wire-spoke wheels with 21-inch rims at the front and 17-inch rims at the rear, shod with tubed tyres from Ceat. The brake setup consists of a single 320 mm disc at the front and a 270 mm disc at the rear, supported by dual-channel ABS, which can be switched off.

The Himalayan 450 will be offered in three variants: Base, Pass and Summit. It will be equipped with a colour TFT instrument console offering Bluetooth connectivity and three riding modes: Eco, Performance with rear ABS and Performance without rear ABS.

The Himalayan will be available in five colours: Kaza Brown, Slate Himalayan Salt, Slate Poppy Blue, Kamet White and Hanle Black.
