Rolls Royce 4x4 confirmed

Uber luxury car maker - Rolls-Royce, has officially confirmed that they are indeed going to build an SUV. Known for its super luxury cars like the Wraith, Ghost and Phantom, this SUV will be the company's first venture into the 4x4 territory. No new name has been finalized of the 4x4 and it is being developed under the codename of RR31.

The 4x4's dimensions are going to be almost as much as the Phantom, which is the flagship limo from Rolls-Royce. The SUV is said to be based on an all-new aluminum architecture, like the Phantom's space-frame chassis. Powering the 4x4 will be a developed version of the 6.8 liter V12 engine from the Phantom. The company confirms that this new SUV will not be a differently styled BMW X7 but will be an all new car.

This SUV is said to significantly boost sales to the tune of as many as 1500 cars, although the company denies focusing on volumes.

Recently, the company's closest rival - Bentley,  revealed that their first flagship SUV will be called  'Bentayga', with a proposed launch in 2016. The Rolls-Royce 4x4 is said to enter production in 2017. The Range Rover Vogue is in for some stiff competition by these two companies in the coming years.
