Renault Kwid caught on video

View Forum Discussion

The upcoming Renault Kwid hatchback has been spotted once again - this time the spotter has managed to capture it on video.

The Kwid will use the Common Module Family - Affordable (CMF-A) platform from the Renault-Nissan Alliance. It has a rugged look with black plastic cladding on its doors, wheel arches and lower portion of the bumpers. The door mirrors and door handles are finished in black and the car is seen riding on steel rims with wheel covers. At the rear the Kwid gets a roof-mounted rear spoiler and wraparound tail lamps.

On the inside, the Kwid is equipped with 3-spoke steering wheel, digital instrumentation, and a centrally-positioned multimedia/navigation system with a 7-inch touchscreen.

The Kwid is expected to be powered by an 800cc, twin cam, three-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 57 BHP. Media reports suggest that the Kwid will get a 1.0-litre petrol engine later. The addition of a diesel engine cannot be ruled out either.

The Kwid will be pitted against the Maruti Suzuki Alto and Hyundai Eon. It is expected to be launched in the second half of 2015.
