Renault Captur to be launched in India this year

Renault is all set to launch a new crossover in India. The car maker has confirmed that the Renault Captur SUV will be launched this year. That said, we can expect it to be launched during this festive season.

Renault hasn't revealed any technical details about the upcoming SUV. According to media reports, the India-spec Captur will be based on the Duster platform. It is rumoured that the car will be offered with a 7-seat layout and would likely be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. An all-wheel drive variant might also be on the cards.

Test mules of the Renault Captur have already been spotted on multiple occasions in the past. More recently, a test car was spied in Vellore. Spy images of the interior revealed that the India-spec Captur could get red accents on the dashboard, primarily around the air-conditioning vents and the centre console. The vehicle is likely to get chrome door handles, glossy black center fascia and silver trim around the dashboard. Renault would most likely offer a touchscreen infotainment system along with other features.

The Renault Captur will be priced above the Duster and will be pitted against the Hyundai Creta.
