BHPian Jeroen recently shared this with other enthusiasts:
I got myself another tool cart! Very pleased with it. I have tonnes of tools stacked on the shelves of the various cupboards. Not always easy to find stuff. So I noticed this nifty tool cart. It was on special too. "Take my money!"
Notice the little bracket for all my special screwdrivers;
The bracket I made myself. I used a piece of L-shaped aluminium strip. Drilled some holes for the screwdrivers and used three rivets to attach the bracket to the cart.
I had to use one of the bits of my mini mill to drill out the holes, which needed to be 16mm. I don't have regular metal drills, but I have plenty of milling bits of course.
I spend most of the day tinkering in my garage, making this bracket, sorting out my tools, cleaning up and so on. I love just messing about a bit with all my stuff. Makes me very happy and content.
So here we are. It is likely to change over time, but this is what went into the drawers;
All the various "special sizes and attachments for sockets". I have one large set of sockets that still lives in the cupboard.
One drawer full of all kinds of little scrapers and things to poke around with. Various Allen keys, T-bits, torx, two sets of miniature sockets.
One drawer with all kinds of special pliers. Stainless steel (surgery), plastic, and regular steel. Various trim removal tools
More pliers, again all a bit special, shape and purpose-wise. Various punches
More pliers and my set of radio-removal tools!
Various heavy-use items and torx bits and a very special set of Imperial sockets with an exterior driver (rather than your normal ratchet.
Bottom drawer. A couple of very large hammers. (Need to keep a good bit of weight in the bottom so the cart doesn't topple over). All kinds of various pullers nut spicers and so on.
For good measure, I re-arranged my original tool cart a bit as well.
It only has one drawer which has my standard set of spanners, wrenches, hammer and screwdriver.
On the shelf beneath it, three sets of different sockets, long body, hex, imperial. A very large adjustable plier and some other screw drivers, including stubbies.
This is where the two carts will sit, when not in use
Most of these tools came out of one of the cupboards. So let's see what is left there:

Spend some more time cleaning up the workbench
And also, my other hobby corner.

With the Jeep sitting outside in our yard, both the Mercedes and Jaguar are back in their regular spot. I am expecting a call from Marc this week, to bring the Spider home!
I still have a lot of tools that live in their respective car (All my cars have a well-equipped toolset on board). Also, the cupboard as you might notice has a lot of these red/blue boxes. All of those are special tools. From manometers, and chain punches, to spring compressors and a bunch more. Some tools might have been used only once. I do have the odd tool that has not been used. But give it time, it will get used ultimately. It's important to sort of keep a check on what you own because I find I sometimes forget. Cleaning everything, re-arranging it all is a good exercise to refresh your memory on your tool collection!
Spanner mate Peter was supposed to have come over this week with his Lancia to fix the wheel bearings. For various reasons that did not happen. I might pop over this Sunday.
