Mercedes-Benz CLA L LWB unveiled at 2025 Shanghai Motor Show

The CLA L features a unique rear seat with a cushion that has been extended by 10 mm for better leg support.

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the CLA L at the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show. As the L badge suggests, this is the long-wheelbase version of the sedan specifically for the Chinese market.

The CLA L measures 4,763 mm in overall length and has a wheelbase of 2,865 mm. Both have increased by 40 mm. This makes it longer than the C-Class while having the same wheelbase. The CLA L features a unique rear seat with a cushion that has been extended by 10 mm for better leg support. There are also softer rear seat bolsters for comfort.

Other features are expected to be similar to the regular CLA sedan. This means it features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 14-inch front passenger display. These run a unique version of the MB.OS. Specifically for the Chinese market, the MBUX Virtual Assistant uses local voices as well as the DouBao AI agent from ByteDance. There’s also Chinese-specific navigation and database support.

Powertrain-wise, the EV features an 800-volt architecture with a rear-mounted electric motor that develops 268 BHP and has a CLTC range of up to 866 km. A top-up from a 320 kW DC charger can give you a 370 km range in just 10 minutes.

Mercedes claims the CLA L is the “most efficient car in the segment with 93% energy efficiency from battery to wheels.”  The carmaker also said that the prototype achieved a range of 1,071 km on a single charge during testing at a consumption of 8.26 kWh per 100 km at constant speeds.
