DIY: GPS tracker installation in my Tata Nexon

I've been considering installing a GPS tracker for my car for a long time. It would be useful to know the location when I leave the car for service or park it outside. It would also help my family track my real-time location when I travel outstation

BHPian rnaduthota recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Initially, I thought of buying a battery-powered GPS tracker. However, I was concerned about the high temperatures inside the car when parked under the sun, which can exceed 45°C. This led me to consider a GPS tracker connected to the car battery.

After extensive research on Amazon and various forums, I came across VEDA ENTERPRISES, which sells GPS trackers for all vehicle types and businesses. I spoke to the owner, VEDA, discussed my doubts, and found him to be very genuine. He offered a very competitive price compared to all the online websites I checked. I paid him via Gpay, and he couriered the GPS tracker the same day.

For anyone interested, here are the shop and contact details: VEDA ENTERPRISES 15/167 C, NY Tower, Ground Floor IAC Road, Kuttikkattukara, Kalamassery, Kerala 683501 Phone: 70104-27406

Installation: From the beginning, I was clear that I wanted to do the installation myself without cutting any wires. I decided to install it using a fuse tap. The installation was simple: connect the red wire to the 12V battery fuse (always ON), the orange wire to a fuse that gets power when the ignition is switched on, and the black wire to the ground.

Once I got the fuse tap, I connected it with the respective wires and used heat shrink tubes to seal them permanently to avoid any electrical short circuits. After making the connections, I called VEDA to activate my account. He did everything in 15 minutes and sent me the tracking app details along with the login information.

I installed the GPS tracker one month ago, and so far, it is working very well. The location accuracy is excellent, and the app is very responsive. The device looks good and consumes very little power; even after parking continuously for 8 to 10 days, it did not drain the battery.App can be installed on multiple devices, once login using given username and password anyone can track the live car location.
