Production-ready Nissan Kicks revealed

Ahead of its scheduled official launch at the Rio 2016 Olympics (Related link here), the production-ready Nissan Kicks has been revealed in Brazil.

The Kicks concept was first displayed at the 2014 Sao Paulo Auto Show. The production model is very much like the concept, without many changes in the design.

Based on the V-platform, which is shared with the Micra, the Official car of the Olympics will have a naturally-aspirated 1.6-litre flex fuel engine producing approximately 110 BHP. The petrol/ethanol engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or an X-Tronic CVT. Different engine and transmission configurations will be available in markets other than South America.

The Kicks measures more than 4 metres in length. However, in India, Nissan could shorten its length to make it a sub-4 metre vehicle. This will enable it to avail of excise duty benefits.

When the Nissan Kicks comes to India, it will be put up against the Ford Ecosport, Vitara Brezza, Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta and the upcoming Honda BR-V.
