Porsche Macan launched in India at Rs. 1 crore

German auto major, Porsche has launched the Macan SUV in India. The car is being offered in two variants - S Diesel and Turbo, priced at Rs. 1 crore and Rs. 1.11 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively.

The Macan S Diesel is powered by a 3 litre turbo diesel V6 which puts out 245 hp @ 4000-4500 rpm and 580 Nm of torque @ 1750-2500 rpm. Porsche claims that the car can touch 100 kph from a standstill in 6.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 230 kph.

The Macan Turbo sports a 3.6 litre turbo charged V6 petrol unit which pumps out 400 hp @ 6000 rpm and 550 Nm of torque @ 1350-4500 rpm and can propel the car from 0-100 kph in 4.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 266 kph.

Both variants are equipped with an all-wheel drive system and a seven speed PDK dual clutch transmission.

The Macan comes with a lot of features as standard such as bi-xenon headlights, adaptive air-suspension with ride height adjustment, interior lighting package, automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel with gearshift paddles and tailgate with electric operation. However, when one considers that Porsche's bigger SUV, the Cayenne is priced at Rs. 79 lakh, the Macan appears rather overpriced.
