Petrol prices hiked by Rs. 2.21, diesel up by Rs. 1.79

Fuel prices in the country have received yet another hike, with petrol suffering a rise of Rs. 2.21 per litre, while diesel prices have increased by Rs. 1.79 a litre. These figures are excluding the state levies. The increased prices have been made applicable from December 16, midnight.

After this price increase, petrol prices in Delhi are tagged at Rs. 68.94 per litre, while diesel costs Rs. 56.68 per litre.

The last revision in fuel prices was made on December 1st, when petrol became costlier by 13 paise, while diesel prices were cut by 12 paise.

State-owned companies like Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) revise fuel prices in the country on the 1st and 16th of every month. The applicable change is decided after considering the international crude prices and USD-INR exchange rates.
