Petrol prices have suffered a hike of 42 paise per litre, while diesel is now costlier by Rs. 1.03 per litre. The aforementioned hike is excluding state levies. Revised prices have been made applicable from midnight of January 15, 2017.

This marks the fourth increment in petrol prices in the past six weeks and the third hike in diesel in a month. Post the revision, petrol in Delhi costs Rs. 71.13 per litre, while diesel is retailing at Rs. 59.02 per litre.

Fuel prices in the country are revised every fortnight, on the 1st and 16th of every month, based on INR-USD conversion rates and international crude oil prices. The final price revision is made by state-owned subsidiaries like Indian Oil Corp (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corp (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corp (HPCL).
