Next-gen Maruti Suzuki Wagon R spotted

A test mule of the next-generation Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has been spotted in Gurgaon. The new model is rumoured to be based on the lightweight HEARTECT platform and might also come in a 7-seater version.

The test car has been heavily camouflaged, however there are certain design elements that standout. It has the distinct tallboy design and large wraparound headlights in the front. The Suzuki logo is placed on a horizontal bar that runs across the front grille. There is a three-slat air dam placed on the bumper flanked by circular fog lamps. The test car has ORVMs with integrated turn signals and is riding on steel wheels. The window line appears to have a steep kink on the C-pillar.

The Wagon R was first launched in India back in 1999. It received its last update in 2013. At present, the Wagon R comes with a 998 cc, 3-cylinder K10B petrol engine that delivers 67 BHP @ 6,200 rpm and 90 Nm of torque @ 3,500 rpm. Maruti also offers a CNG version. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT and the same are expected to be carried onto the new-gen Wagon R.

There has been no official word on the next-gen Wagon R yet.
