Next-gen BMW X3 to be launched on April 19, 2018

BMW showcased the third generation X3 at the 2018 Auto Expo. The carmaker has now confirmed that the new X3 will be launched in India on April 19, 2018.

The new X3 is based on BMW's CLAR (Cluster Architecture) platform. It measures 4,716 mm in length, 1,897 mm in width and 1,676 mm in height making it slightly larger yet 55 kg lighter than the outgoing model.

The exterior features a variety of changes including a larger kidney grille and redesigned headlamps. The front bumper is new with a wide air dam and vents on either side featuring rectangular LED fog lamps. The rear end gets revised wraparound tail lights, a bumper with integrated scuff plate and a roof spoiler. On the inside, the new X3 gets a redesigned dashboard with silver inserts and a floating touchscreen infotainment system with gesture control along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel has also been updated.

While BMW hasn't announced the engines that will be offered on India-spec X3, it is likely to get a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine with 188 BHP and 400 Nm. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel drive system.
