So exactly after 8,819 kms and about 5 years+ from the last oil change in March 2018, it was high time to get the car serviced. Yes, I know the mileage was pretty low in the last few years and there is no excuse for not changing the oil earlier but no issues of any kind cropped up or were found due to this delayed oil change (in terms of the period). The delay was probably due to the fact that the official oil change in terms of kms needs to be done every 15,000 km.
Anyways, the odo was at 37,161 km
Reached my FNG which is incidentally owned by a friend. He helped me in the last oil change too, 5 years back, if you will remember from the previous posts. He had by now upgraded his Castrol authorised auto service point.
The car was jacked up on the newly installed hoist lifts. Last time around these were not available, so it was a relief and made the job easier.
And the engine protection plate was removed. As mentioned in my earlier posts, it requires the removal of 6 x 13mm nuts and 8 x T25 Torx plastic screws
Next, as before, the oil filter was removed and the engine oil drain plug (Torx 40) was removed to drain the old oil.
New crush washer (Rs. 160/-) being added to the drain plug. Although the dealership had even provided me with a new drain plug nut (Rs. 174/-), which was incidentally now of Torx 45 head instead of the current T40 head, we did not feel any need to replace it, as the current one was in perfect condition. Only the crush washer, as mentioned, was replaced with a new one.
Next, the air filter was opened up but was found to be in quite good condition, so we just gave it a clean-up and did not replace with the new one (Rs 1,030/-) and kept it for a later date. The cabin filter was also still good and was cleaned up to be replaced with a new one (Rs. 1902/-) later. Last the spark plugs were opened up, detailed procedure and video I have already mentioned in my earlier posts, and given a gentle clean up and gap checked. They still had more than half of their scheduled life left.
The petrol filter (I have 2 new ones in stock, btw) also had more than half of its scheduled life left and hence was not tinkered with. With all mechanical jobs completed, it was time to move to the washing area and the car was given a comprehensive under-body wash, 1st after nearly 5 years.
A job done well and ready to take the next few years in its stride. Total damages for the labour were 500 bucks for the wash and polish and 500 for the service help, as my friend said that I tackled most of the jobs myself. Total 1000 bucks, not bad.
