Mumbai-Goa via Karad & Rajapur: Driving experience & road conditions

After Karad, the state highways are just marvelous, not one pothole till Goa.

BHPian humyum recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Did the Mumbai-Karad-Anushkara Ghat-Rajapur route last Thursday and back from the same route.

Took us around 15 hours to reach. What terrible traffic jams on the under construction bridges, some jams took us 1 hour plus to get out. Pathetic state of routes, so much undulations, random potholes, Mumbai-Bangalore highway is a mess, if I had to go to Bangalore/Goa I would never touch this road from now on.

After Karad, the state highways are just marvelous, not one pothole till Goa. The roads are like race tracks, with the new Michelins and Crysta in Sports mode, transmission in manual mode, music at full blast, I had the time of my life pushing her around corners, ghat roads, fast straights, deadly amazing!

The roads after Rajapur are fantastic too, concrete with fast corners with some corners which remind you of F1 tracks, sudden hard left's and rights on downslopes, be careful during the night that you don't enter the corners too fast.

While coming back took the same route, thankfully no jams till Pune, until a 30 minute slow jam till Hinjewadi had us going at snail's pace. Took 12.5 hours to get back.

Looking at people posting 10 hours around for NH66, planning to try that next time.

The Crysta is at 34 thousand km now in 2 years and 7 months, them more I drive it, the more I realise that its a Swift in wider, taller, faster and more potent form, loving it.
