Mercedes releases magazine advert for vacancy of an F1 driver

Ever since Nico Rosberg officially announced his retirement from Formula 1 after winning the 2016 World Drivers' Championship, the Mercedes F1 team has been left in a lurch for a new driver to accompany Lewis Hamilton into the 2017 season. In line with their search for a driver, the team has released a humorous advertisement for the vacant position in an auto magazine.

The advert talks about a vacancy for a 'race driver', who will be responsible for 'operation of an F1 car at track events, including demos, tests and Grands Prix'. The advert also (sarcastically) mentions that applicants for this job must have a specific set of skills 'including steering, braking and, in particular, accelerating'.

This isn't the first time that Mercedes has tried to joke about on this matter. The very next day of Nico Rosberg's announcement, the team's official twitter handle continuously tweeted various mock application letters, claiming to have received them for the vacant F1 driver position. They even got into a small twitter tussle with Red Bull's Max Verstappen. The team had recently posted a picture of former Formula 1 driver Karun Chandhok with the Mercedes F1 car with the caption 'the rumour mill just keeps turning'.
