Mercedes-Benz CLS facelift spotted in India

The Mercedes-Benz CLS facelift has been spotted at the German manufacturer's plant in Chakan, near Pune. The car is expected to be launched in the near future.

Compared to the outgoing model, the refreshed CLS features a bolder grille, new front bumper with larger air ducts, LED headlamps with Active Multibeam technology, redesigned alloy wheels, a new, aggressive rear bumper and tweaked tail-lamps. On the inside, of the car gets a multifunction, three-spoke steering wheel and a display screen that rises out of the dashboard.

Mercedes-Benz will sell the CLS 250 CDI variant in India. It features a 2,143 cc, 4-cylinder diesel engine capable of producing 201 bhp @ 3800 rpm and 500 Nm of torque @ 1600-1800 rpm. The engine is mated to a 7G-Tronic Plus automatic gearbox. The CLS 400 with a 3.5-litre, 328 bhp (and 480 Nm) petrol engine is also likely to be offered. More details on the engine options are awaited.

The CLS will be brought to India through the CBU route. It will lock horns with the Audi A7 and BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe.
