Mercedes-Benz: Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics

Mercedes-Benz introduces the 'Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics' program in Kerala, via an academic collaboration with the Government Engineering College, Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram. This program targets engineering college students.

It's a 1 year course with 4 modules – Mechanical, Electronics, Vehicle Systems and Soft Skills. The first batch will start from 19th March 2014. Application form and prospectus are available at this link.

The Automotive Mechatronics course designed by Mercedes-Benz is currently run by two government polytechnics in Pune and Aurangabad. This is the third public-private partnership by the company. In Government Polytechnic, Pune and Aurangabad, a total of 266 students have been trained thus far.

The initial plan is to kick-start the course with a single batch of 20 students and the selection of candidates will be strictly as per merit in an entrance test conducted by the College. Engineering degree / diploma holders are eligible to appear for the entrance test. Certificates for successful students will be jointly signed by the Director of Technical Education, Kerala and Mercedes-Benz India.

Mercedes has been involved in planning the syllabus on modern automotive technology, supply of Mercedes-Benz training cars, training of GEC lecturers and supply of tools & equipment to the students.

The ADAM facility has a modern electronics lab, car bay and aggregate training rooms, equipped with training cars, engines, gearboxes and e-lab equipment.
