The launch of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara has been delayed yet again. The electric SUV was initially expected to go on sale in March. But, according to Chairman R.C. Bhargava, the deliveries will only begin before the end of September 2025.
Earlier, there had been reports of production being postponed by around 5 months due to battery supply and software issues. These challenges were enough to push the start of production from September 2024 to February 2025.
It is said that a majority of the e Vitaras produced this year will be exported. “This year's production will largely be exported," Bhargava said. "I think the annual production in the 6-7 months that we are talking about will be somewhere near 70,000 electric vehicles, the bulk of which will be exported,” he added.
The Maruti e Vitara will be offered with two battery options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. In India, the EV will come with a single electric motor, while the export models will get dual-motor AWD variants.
