Kinetic to bring Norton motorcycles to India

Kinetic Engineering and Norton Motor Motorcycle Company have formed a joint venture under which, Norton bikes will be sold in India and other parts of Asia. This announcement was made at the ongoing 2017 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy. According to media reports, a formal announcement regarding the joint venture will be made on November 15, 2017 in New Delhi.

The newly formed company - Kinetic Norton Motorcycles, will introduce two models – Norton Dominator and Norton Commando. These bikes will initially be imported as completely built units (CBUs). However, the company plans to start local assembly from completely knocked down (CKD) kits in the future.

Both the Norton Dominator and Commando share the same 961cc, air/oil-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine with push rod type valve actuation. The unit produces 79 BHP @ 6,500 rpm and 90 Nm of torque @ 5,200 rpm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed transmission.
