Kawasaki launches ER-6n and Z250 motorcycles in India

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer, Kawasaki has added two more models to its India line-up with the launch of the ER-6n and Z250.

The ER-6n is the naked version of the Ninja 650. It sports the same 649 cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, which develops 72 PS @ 8500 rpm and peak torque of 64 Nm @ 7000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The bike is equipped with 300 mm dual petal disc brakes and a single 220 mm petal disc brake on the front and rear wheels respectively. ABS has not been provided.

The ER-6n measures 2110 mm in length, 770 mm in width and 1100 mm in height with a wheelbase of 1410 mm and a ground clearance of 130 mm.  It weighs 204 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 16 litres. It uses a perimeter high-tensile steel frame with a 41 mm telescopic fork front suspension and an offset laydown single-shock with adjustable preload at the rear. The bike rides on 120/70/ZR17M/C and 160/60/ZR17M/C tubeless tyres at the front and rear respectively.

The second bike Kawasaki has launched is the Z250, which is also a naked street bike. It bears similar styling to its bigger sibling, the Z1000. It looks aggressive and comes equipped with a 249 cc, liquid-cooled, fuel injected, parallel twin-cylinder engine, which produces about 32 PS @ 11000 rpm and a peak torque of 21 Nm @ 10000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel through a 6-speed gearbox. Stopping power comes from a single 290 mm petal disc brake at the front and a 220 mm petal disc at the rear. Once again, Kawasaki has refrained from providing an ABS unit.

The Z250 uses a diamond-type steel frame, telescopic front fork and a monoshock rear suspension. It stands 2010 mm long, 750 mm wide and 1025 mm high with a wheelbase of 1400 mm and a ground clearance of 145 mm. It weighs 168 kg and has a 17-litre fuel tank capacity. The bike has a 110/70-17M/C section tyre at the front and a 140/70-17M/C section tyre at the rear.

Both bikes will be assembled at the Bajaj Auto plant at Pimpri near Pune.
