Iconic Ford Bronco returns to challenge the Jeep Wrangler

Ford has brought back the iconic Bronco brand with the launch of a new range of SUVs in the US market. The new Bronco is available in 2-door, 4-door and Bronco Sport models and 6 variants - Bronco, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Wildtrak, and Badlands.

The new Bronco borrows styling cues from the original. It has an upright front fascia with circular headlamps and 'Bronco' lettering in the centre. The 2-door and 4-door models come with soft and hard top options and removable doors and roof sections. It has a 294 mm ground clearance with long travel suspension and has water fording capability of up to 851 mm. It has maximum breakover and departure angles of 29 degrees and 37.2 degrees respectively.

The Bronco comes with heavy duty modular steel bumpers with tow hooks and a winch mount. The SUV also gets steel shields, front bash plate and protection for the engine, transmissions, transfer case and fuel tank. It can also be equipped with side rock rails. Additionally, the Bronco comes with a semi-active hydraulic stabilizer bar and 35-inch off-road tyres on the 2-door and 4-door variants.

The new Bronco is available with two engine options. These include a 2.3-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 266 BHP and 310 Nm. This engine is mated to a 7-speed manual gearbox. The second option is a 2.7-litre V6 that puts out 306 BHP and 400 Nm and comes paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The SUV has all-wheel drive featuring a solid rear axle and electronic locking differentials. It has different driving modes including Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery and Sand, Baja, Mud/Ruts and Rock Crawl for off-road driving.

The Bronco comes with a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit and a 360-degree camera. It has the FordPass Performance App for off-road navigation, over 100 trail maps and trail guides.
