Hyundai Creta test mule spied in Pune; CNG variant on the cards?

The Creta CNG could be offered with the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Hyundai Alcazar CNG was spied testing in Pune in April this year. Now, a test mule of the Creta equipped with an emissions testing kit has been spotted in Pune. Reports suggest that Hyundai could be working on a CNG variant of the popular mid-size SUV.

The Creta CNG could be offered with the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This engine produces 138 BHP and 242 Nm. However, the overall output is expected to drop when running on CNG.

Kia is also working on the Carens CNG. It is also expected to come with the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine. Another Kia model that is likely to be offered with a factory-fitted CNG kit is the Sonet. It could be powered by a 1.0-litre, turbo-petrol engine.
