Caruna electric swivel seats & wheelchair car transfer seat systems

The seating systems can be installed in Mumbai or Pondicherry, whichever location is closer to the customer.

Caruna, a Pondicherry-based wheelchair car seating manufacturing company, has revealed its indigenously developed swivel seat system and wheelchair car transfer seat for the differently-abled and the elderly.

The seating systems are manufactured at the company’s Pondicherry factory. More than 80% of the components are made in India. The company holds patents for both the electric swivel seat and the wheelchair transfer mobility solution that integrates with the swivel seat.

The seating systems can be installed in Mumbai or Pondicherry, whichever location is closer to the customer. It takes a week to install a swivel seat and around 2 weeks or more for the wheelchair transfer seat installation. During this period, road tests are conducted to make sure the seats are properly integrated with the car’s safety systems like airbags and seat belt sensors.

According to Caruna, its primary customers are persons with limited mobility, especially the elderly, wheelchair-bound and persons suffering from a spinal cord injury, polio, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, etc. However, the company does plan to supply to large OEMs as well.
