"Hyundai Care"service mobile app launched in India

South Korean automaker Hyundai is the second largest car maker in India and an effective after sales service network is a key aspect that has allowed Hyundai to entrench itself well in the Indian car market. The car maker has launched the "Hyundai Care" service mobile app, which will allow its customers to find service outlets, and schedule routine and emergency after sales service, among various other utilities.

Currently, Hyundai India has made this mobile app available on Android and iOS smartphone platforms. The apps can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and the Apple iTunes Store. Here are the various utilities of the "Hyundai Care" mobile app:

  • GPS-based location of the nearest Hyundai service center
  • Scheduling service appointments and estimating service costs
  • Accessing service history
  • Insurance calculator
  • One call connection to Hyundai's emergency assistance service
  • Notification inbox for ongoing campaigns
  • Service feedback mechanism
  • GPS-based trip logs

As the use of smartphones becomes more widespread among car owners, mobile applications such as the one launched by Hyundai could simplify the experience of accessing after sales service. Notably, a similar such application, called the BlueSense, was launched late last year by Mahindra, for the XUV500 crossover.

While the XUV500's mobile app was developed exclusively for the crossover, Hyundai's mobile app has a wider focus and can be used to schedule service and access service information of all Hyundai cars sold in India. With Mahindra and Hyundai both launching mobile apps for accessing after sales service and other car information, expect more mass market automakers to join this bandwagon in the coming years.
