Gurgaon metro stations get 1,000 electric rickshaws

SmartE, an electric mobility service based out of Gurgaon, has provided more than 1,000 electric rickshaws in certain metro stations of Gurgaon and Faridabad. SmartE has entered into a partnership with Delhi Metro (DMRC) to offer the electric rickshaws in order to provide last mile connectivity from metro stations.

SmartE and DMRC are also working together to enable Metro Smart Cards for the payment of SmartE rides and introduce the concept of ‘Common Mobility Card’. The charge for the first 2 km is Rs. 10 and Rs. 5 per km after that. The electric rickshaws can be hailed by using the SmartE app, which gives the option of booking an exclusive ride or to share a ride.

The company claims that its electric rickshaws are completely made in India and have GPS tracking along with in-built sensors. The Gurgaon-based company aims to serve over 3 million commuters per month with its 1,000 vehicles. Its future plans include the production of 10,000 vehicles by the end of 2018 to serve different parts of the country.
