Gautam Singhania wins 2014 Pirelli Ferrari Open in Britain

Mr. Gautam Singhania has won the 2014 Pirelli Ferrari Open, held at Brands Hatch in the United Kingdom.

The Pirelli Ferrari Open is an invitational race organised by The Ferrari Owners' Club of Great Britain and supported by Pirelli. It consists of two races - Race 1 (25 minutes) and race 2 (45 minutes). Mr. Singhania, who is the Chairman and MD of the Raymond Group and founder of the Super Car Club (India), won both the races - the first one by a margin of 40 seconds. This is the first time an Indian has achieved this feat.

Membership of the Ferrari Owners' Club is open to anyone who either owns or has owned a Ferrari. It is an international concept and has members in 36 different countries.

On his achievement, Mr. Singhania said "It's a dream come true to score a double whammy and keep the Indian flag flying high in an international circuit! This build up to a race was a feeling of pure bliss for every racing fanatic. Race day was really a big day for me as I raced at Brands Hatch 32 years after learning to race here.  Winning two races back to back was thrilling given that I was participating for the first time."

Last year, Mr. Singhania had become the fastest to go around the Buddh International Circuit in a non-open wheel car when he managed to lap the 5.14 km circuit in 1 minute and 59 seconds.
