Ford Figo-based crossover to be unveiled on January 31, 2018

The Ford Figo-based crossover was recently spotted completely undisguised. Now, it has been reported that the carmaker is gearing up to unveil the new model on January 31, 2018. Media reports also suggest that the Figo-based crossover will be named 'Freestyle'.

Spy images have indicated that the Figo-based crossover will feature a slightly tweaked exterior with black body cladding around the front and rear bumpers, door sills and wheel arches. The front grille has also been finished in black and is flanked by smoked headlamps. The car features a new front bumper with re-profiled fog lamp pods. The crossover also comes with black roof rails, B-pillars and ORVM housings. Compared to the standard Figo hatchback, the crossover is likely to have a higher ground clearance along with larger wheels and tyres.

Inside, the crossover is expected to get a 6.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system while higher variants could get a larger 8.0-inch unit with Ford's Sync 3. Safety features like ABS, ESP and 6 airbags are likely to be offered on the top-end variant.

Ford is expected to debut its new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Dragon Series petrol engine with 95 BHP and 115 Nm on the Figo Freestyle. The new engine is derived from the 1.5-litre engine that recently debuted on the EcoSport.

The Figo Freestyle will compete with pseudo-SUVs like the Hyundai i20 Active and Honda WR-V.
