Ford EcoSport launched in India; Prices begin at 5.59 lakhs

Ford India has just launched the EcoSport compact crossover, a car that buyers have been waiting for nearly a year and a half. National deliveries of the EcoSport finally begin today.Bookings for the car are already open across all Ford dealerships in India.

Cutting to the chase, here are the much awaited prices of the EcoSport, 

1.5 P Ambiente: 5.59 lakhs

 

1.5 P Trend: 6.49 lakhs

1.5 P Titanium: 7.5 lakhs

1.5 P Titanium (O) AT: 8.45 lakhs

1.5 D Ambiente: 6.69 lakhs

1.5 D Trend: 7.6 lakhs

1.5 D Titanium: 8.61 lakhs

1.5 D Titanium (O): 8.99 lakhs

1.0 P Titanium: 7.89 lakhs 

1.0 P Titanium (O): 8.28 lakhs

All prices reflect ex-showroom Delhi figures. 

First unveiled globally, at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo as a concept, the EcoSport crossover is now produced at Ford India's Maramalainagar factory. The factory now has a new assembly line dedicated to the EcoSport. The brand new, 142 Million USD assembly line can churn out 10 different variants of the EcoSport crossover, both for India as well as export markets.

The EcoSport will be exported from India, to several countries across the world. With the EcoSport, Ford India expected to upstage the Figo in terms of the number of countries the automaker exports this car to. In India, most variants of the EcoSport qualify for lower excise tax due to the crossover's sub-4 meter length, which allows the crossover to be classified as a small/compact car. 

The crossover is available with three engine options: a 1.5 liter turbo diesel engine (91 PS-204 Nm), a 1.5 liter Ti-VCT petrol engine (112 PS -140 Nm) and a 1 liter turbo petrol EcoBoost engine (125 PS-170 Nm). All three engines get a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard. The 1.5 liter Ti-VCT naturally aspirated motor can be ordered with a 6 speed dual clutch PowerShift automatic transmission.

The EcoSport is available in 10 different variants spread across the three engine and two transmission options. The diesel engine is available in Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium (Option) trims. The 1.5 petrol is also available in the four variants, as is the diesel model. However, the top end 1.5 petrol gets an automatic transmission. The EcoBoost turbo petrol engined EcoSport is available in Titanium and Titanium(O) variants.
