Dealers accepting bookings for Renault Kwid

Renault is expected to launch the Kwid hatchback during the 2015 festive season. While the company has not made an official announcement, certain dealers have started accepting bookings for the car for a sum of Rs. 25,000.

The Kwid uses the Common Module Family - Affordable (CMF-A) platform from the Renault-Nissan Alliance. The car has black plastic cladding on its doors, wheel arches and lower portion of the bumpers, which give it an SUVish look. The interiors feature a 3-spoke steering wheel, digital instrumentation, and a centrally-positioned multimedia/navigation.

The Kwid will be powered by an 800cc, three-cylinder petrol engine that puts out 57 BHP. A 1.0-litre petrol engine is likely to available later as well.

Renault will position the Kwid against the Maruti Suzuki Alto and Hyundai Eon. It is expected to be priced for Rs. 3-4 lakh.

For the Kwid, Renault has raised the localisation levels to 98%.
