Concerned yet somewhat assured about my XUV700's long-term reliability

It is commendable that Mahindra is listening to customer feedback and making efforts to address the issues.

BHPian rudra_shiv recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Received a call last week from Mr. Dileep (CAI Mahindra), notifying me that the Vacuum Pump and Suspension LCA with new bushes have arrived. An appointment was scheduled for Wednesday to address these issues, and the vehicle pick-up was arranged.

The Service Advisor (SA) was promptly assigned, reaching out to inquire about any additional concerns. In addition to the scheduled recall and replacement items, I highlighted the persistent door noise occurring even on slightly uneven roads.

Arising fear

Being one among the fanboys and admirers of Mahindra cars, who would go to extents to fight in favor of it, I did not expect such inconsistent quality of parts from Mahindra though. Having driven only 16,000kms, the need to replace the Suspension LCA, Canister issue (covered briefly at the start of this forum), and Vacuum Pump raises questions in my mind about its long-term reliability after buying this for 2 million INR.

Yeah, I do know that mStallion breed is a new game of engineering to Mahindra. I was very much hopeful that they would've perfected it as the engine debuted in the XUV500 2018 facelift (poor sales led to discontinuation though). Its 190bhp version was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and it has been 3 years since its complete development. Surprised to see they have not perfected it yet. Mahindra should concentrate on this for sure.

Assuring confidence through recalls & ASC

On the other side, it's reassuring to know that they are tuned in to hear the challenges customers are experiencing. Their attentiveness to customer feedback on social media and forums, coupled with their proactive efforts to address issues, is definitely a commendable aspect that deserves appreciation. CAI Mahindra & Team were always reassuring in this aspect. They are hearing the customer feedback, and proactively reaching out to check/collect feedback. I could see they are taking it seriously which gives me some confidence in this ownership journey.

Here are some pics from the CAI while RUDRA is being pampered:

The old LCA that was replaced.

The good part is that they provide work progress updates through WhatsApp, offering reassurance that the work is actively underway.

Following a bout of heavy rains that left RUDRA covered in dirt, it's a delight to witness it sparkling again and ready to devour many more joyful miles ahead.

Taking this moment to appreciate two people who played a supportive role in this journey - Mr. Dileep (GM Services - CAI) and Mr. Saranth (SA-CAI).

Yeah! He was back

RUDRA was at the ASC for 3 days and was delivered on Friday. After a brief drive covering approximately 100 kilometers, I noticed improved and consistent performance from the brakes. The suspension feels slightly stiffer than before, with the hope that it will improve with further run.

As of now, there have been no occurrences of suspension sound or vacuum pump noise. However, I will remain vigilant to see if these issues arise in the future.

The part that matters a lot (always)

Though some concerns come and go, the joy of driving RUDRA zipping in traffic (without seeing the FE on the MID - well, you know why) and zapping on the highways surely puts a huge smile on my face.

Though was not a fan of drive modes earlier, now I really wish Mahindra had given Zip, Zap, and Zoom modes for Petrol too or at least the custom mode. Why Mahindra… why?
