Changed the transmisiion oil cooler and ATF on my Hexa AT

I avoided ASC as my ASC wanted "Me" to own up if a perfectly working transmission gets messed up with the ATF change.

Update- ATF and AT cooler change

So I got the ATF, AT cooler and AT Oil Filter changed at SEHMBI AT specialist - https://sehmbi.in/

Over all a uneventful experience and highly recommended if you want to get this work done outside TASS. TASS even sends Hexa AT repairs to SEHMBI. I have personally seen the chat messages and vehicles being repaired.

Points to note

  • My car has currently done 99K kms in 7 years ( Dec 2017 early batches ) , I picked it up used in October 2022 from my ex Boss @ 57K kms, so that is roughly 40k kms in 2years. My extended family and I use this vehicle exclusively for Highways.
  • The ATF was never changed, hence my research suggested to go ahead with a Pan drop fluid change rather than a flush - if your ATF was never changed every 50k kms DO NOT do a flush - Rather go for a Pan drop. Pan drop replaces roughly 60% of the fluid or 7 litres, as opposed to 11 litres in a full flush.
  • I avoided TASS as my TASS wanted "Me" to own up if a perfectly working transmission gets messed up with the ATF change. As per the TASS the gearbox is sealed for life and they are performing an outside standard service work which they don’t want to be responsible for.
  • My research led me to SEHMBI, they have good reviews in TBHP and my interaction with the owner - Harmeet was very good, the lead technician Yash was also very knowledgeable.
  • Be careful what grade of oil you use. The HEXA needs Dexron 6 ONLY, some FNGs will say DCT oil is good enough but do not do that.
  • Replace the Oil filter and Gasket.
  • clean the breather pipes.
  • Most importantly this was a proactive replacement there was nothing wrong with my AT but decided to do this for peace of mind, there were two other Hexa’s at SEHMBI for gearbox repair and the cost to fix them was 1.85L and 2.3L respectively.
  • Pro tip, buy the oil from Amazon, you will get the best price, while SEHMBI price matched the oil rate from Amazon, I had to pay GST for the whole bill. Had I got the oil from Amazon would have saved a bit more.
