BMW to launch new X6 in India on July 23, 2015

BMW has announced that it will launch the second-generation X6 SUV in India on July 23, 2015.

The new X6 measures 4,909 mm in length, 1,989 mm in width and 1,702 mm in height, making it 34 mm longer, 4 mm wider and 12 mm higher than its predecessor. However, thanks to the use of weight saving materials in its construction, it weighs 40 kg lesser than the outgoing car.

The X6 shares its platform with the platform with the X5 SUV. However, instead of a traditional SUV look, it sports gets a sloping roofline like a coupe.

While the new X6 retains the overall silhouette of its predecessor, it looks sharper and is comes with has larger headlamps, wider grille and sportier bumpers. The interiors of the new X6 are similar to those of the new X5. The dashboard, seats and other trim have all been restyled and vehicle offers more interior and boot space than before.

The X6 is likely to be launched in the X6 xDrive40d variant, which is powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder diesel engine that develops 308 bhp and 630 Nm of torque. The car comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive.

BMW will bring the X6 to India through the CBU route.
