BMW 1-Series sedan makes public debut in China

The BMW 1-Series sedan has made its official public debut at the 2016 Guangzhou Auto Show. The 1-Series was unveiled earlier this year. As of now, the BMW 1-Series sedan is expected to be a China-only model. It competes in the entry-level luxury sedan segment and thus rivals the Audi A3.

At 4,456 mm in length, 1,803 mm in width and 1,446 mm in height, the 1-Series sedan is smaller than all other BMW sedans currently on offer. It has the company's characteristic design elements, including the kidney grille and a prominent nose. It also retains the Hofmeister kink in the rear window which is found in various BMW cars. The car comes with LED headlamps, LED taillights and 5-spoke alloys.

The interiors too are in line with the automaker's design philosophy. The top-end trim level gets a dual tone dashboard layout, while the centre console has been slightly tilted towards driver. It also houses an 8.8-inch floating infotainment screen.

The 1-Series sedan is available in three petrol trims: 118i, 120i and 125i. The entry-level 1-Series 118i is powered by a 134 BHP, 1.5-litre TwinPower turbo engine mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, the 120i and 125i feature the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine in two states of tune: 189 BHP and 227 BHP. Both these trims employ an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
