Aprilia Shiver 900 and Dorsoduro 900 launched in India

Aprilia has launched the Shiver 900 and Dorsoduro 900 in India. The former has been launched at an introductory price of Rs. 11.99 lakh, while the latter is pegged at Rs. 12.50 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The bike maker has also announced that the prices will be hiked from July 1st, 2017. Post this increase, the Shiver 900 will cost Rs. 13,32,930, while the Dorsoduro 900 will be priced at Rs. 13,83,652 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Aprilia Shiver 900 is a naked street fighter, while the Dorsoduro 900 is an adventure sports bike. They are based on the same platform and share various components. Both of them come with a 4.3-inch digital instrument cluster. This screen can change the background and font colours to adapt to different ambient lighting conditions in order to optimize visibility. Additionally, riders can connect their smartphones to the bike's digital screen by opting for the AMP kit and access the contact and audio files on the go. Other features on offer include traction control system, ride by wire technology with 3 ride modes: Sport, Touring and Rain, and two-channel ABS.

Both the bikes - Shiver 900 and Dorsoduro 900 share the same engine. As a result, they are powered by an 896 cc, V-twin engine that develops 94 BHP @ 8,750 rpm and 90 Nm of torque @ 6,500 rpm, while being mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Suspension setup includes 41 mm Kayaba inverted forks at the front and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. The Dorsoduro 900 offers larger wheel travel at the front and rear to suit its adventure biking characteristics. Braking duties are handled by twin 320 mm discs with four-piston Brembo calipers at the front, while the rear gets a single 240 mm disc with a single-piston Brembo caliper.

The two bikes will be sold through the Piaggio group's Motoplex showrooms in Pune, Chennai, Bangalore, Kochi and Hyderabad.
