2018 Yamaha MT-09 launched at Rs. 10.88 lakh

Yamaha has launched the updated MT-09 in India at a price of Rs. 10.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The naked street bike will be imported in the country as a completely built unit (CBU). 

The 2018 Yamaha MT-09 is based on a diamond chassis and features inverted front forks and a monoshock rear suspension. The bike measures 2,075 mm in length, 815 mm in width and the height is 1,120 mm. The wheelbase measures 1,440 mm, while the seat height is set at 820 mm. The bike’s wet weight is 193 kg and it comes with a 14-litre fuel tank.

Yamaha has made minor changes to the design of the new MT-09. The bike features a twin eye headlamp cluster with 4 LED lamps up front and revised mirrors. The turn signals have been repositioned lower beside the radiator. It gets larger air scoops and a new radiator shroud. The LED tail lamp has now been integrated into the rear cowl and gets 4 LED lamps as well. The rear fender is mounted directly to the rear swingarm which also functions as a mud guard. The seat is flatter, and 5 mm higher compared to the previous model. Some of the features on offer include traction control system with 2 settings, ABS and a digital instrument panel.

The new MT-09 carries over the same 847cc, liquid-cooled, 3-cylinder engine from the previous model. It produces 113 BHP @ 10,000 rpm and 87.5 Nm of peak torque @ 8,500 rpm and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Braking is taken care of by twin 298 mm discs in the front and a single 245 mm disc in the rear.
