Hi everyone!
I am on the cusp of buying a new car after parting ways with my 2015 Petrol Toyota Camry. I have been a Toyota user for over 20 years. It started with a Qualis, onto the first generation Innova, then to a Corolla Altis and finally ended up with a 2015 Toyota Camry.
We need to fill the void which the Camry has left. Hence the need of this post to get the best possible insights in the Indian Car fraternity.
I really like the Innova Hycross, for all its pros and cons. My biggest motivator for this choice is of course the strong hybrid technology, as I agree with the section on this forum that believes that Hybrids are the most realistic solution to solving the carbon emission problem.
On the flip side, I am also contemplating buying a used Camry Hybrid, 2017-2018 model year.
My concern with those cars is the reliability of the battery. I remember reading GTO's experience of helping his NRI friends buy a used Camry Hybrid, and have been pondering over that idea since.
Please help me solve this dilemma!
The thought going through my head are as follows:
With the hycross:
a. Is the product worth 35 lakhs? (I live in Jaipur and that’s how much the ZX(O) will cost there)
b. If invested in this, I will have a car which can easily last 10 years before I have to think about buying another people mover.
With the Used Camry Hybrid:
a. The reliability of the hybrid battery, given that the cars I am looking at are 7-8 years old and the battery is definitely out of warranty.
b. The sheer value for money I will get for 16 odd lakhs spent on a Camry hybrid is phenomenal. MASSIVE out right savings over a new car. (Disclaimer: I am biased towards buying used cars as they are phenomenal value for money)
c. The reliability of Used car agents in Mumbai, where I am looking at used cars because there are none available in Jaipur and the ones in Delhi are too expensive and the reliability factor of used car agents is applicable with them too.
