Volkswagen India appears to have silently added the updated 1.5-litre TDI engine to the Vento sedan. The updated brochure on the company's official website mentions that the Vento diesel now produces 108 BHP of power; which is the output of the new engine. A new colour shade - Silk Blue, has also been added to the Vento's palette.

The German automaker first introduced the updated 1.5-litre unit under the Ameo compact sedan. The engine recently made its way to the facelifted Skoda Rapid, which is the Vento's brand reengineered sibling. It was thus obvious that the Vento too will be getting the updated power mill in the near future.

With the new update, the Volkswagen Vento diesel is now powered by the same 1.5-litre TDI engine block, which now gets a different tuning and a larger turbocharger that bumps the power to 108 BHP, while the peak torque is rated at 250 Nm. It is now offered with two transmission options: a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic. The Vento diesel manual variant has a company claimed fuel economy of 22.27 km/l, while that of the automatic variant is at 22.15 km/l.
