Govt. subsidy on electric 2-wheelers extended till September 30

The government aims to support 5,60,789 EVs under the updated EMPS scheme.

The government has extended the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) 2024 till September 30. It was originally set to conclude on July 31.

The government aims to support 5,60,789 EVs under the updated EMPS scheme. This includes 5,00,080 electric 2-wheelers, up from the original target of 3,33,387 units, and 60,709 electric 3-wheelers like e-rickshaws and e-carts.

The government has also increased the budget allocation for the scheme from Rs 500 crore to Rs 778 crore.

The EMPS scheme aims to promote green mobility and develop the electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing ecosystem in India. The scheme has a limited fund and restricts the number of EVs supported under each category.
