VW reveals Vento with cosmetic updates and more features

Volkswagen has been testing an updated version of the Vento sedan over the past months. Now the company has unveiled the car.

At the front, the Vento now gets a new Passat-like 3-slat grille, a tweaked bonnet, new bumper with horizontal slats and a chrome strip and redesigned fog lamps with integrated cornering lights. The rear of the car sees a reworked set of tail lamps and a chrome strip running along the boot lid between them. There is a revised bumper as well with a chrome strip and thin reflectors at both ends and the exhaust pipe gets a chrome tip. Other changes to the exterior include door mirrors with integrated turn indicators and chrome inserts on the door handles.

Coming to the interiors, the Vento gets a lighter colour scheme and additional equipment. The higher variants of the car get cruise control, a dead pedal and a cooled glove box. Electrically foldable door mirrors and an external boot release are also provided on the top trim levels.

There are no mechanical changes to the Vento. The 1.2-litre, 103 BHP and 1.6-litre, 104 BHP petrol and 1.5-litre, 103 BHP diesel engines are carried over from the outgoing model. The 5-speed manual and 7-speed automatic transmissions are also retained.

The Vento ranks a poor fourth in the C2 sedan segment. It has been unable to keep pace with the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. With the updates, Volkswagen will hope to see the car do better in the sales charts.
