Volkswagen rolls out 50,000th export car from Pune plant

Volkswagen India has reached a milestone in exports. The company has rolled out its 50,000th export car from its plant at Chakan, near Pune. The jubilee export car is a left-hand drive Vento sedan, built for the Mexican market.

Volkswagen commenced its export business 2 and a half years ago with South Africa being the first country to be catered to. With time the export business has grown and now, the company ships its cars out to as many as thirty-two nations.

Besides the Vento, the Polo hatchback is also exported to various markets worldwide. Apart from completely built units, parts and components for the Vento and Polo are also built at the Chakan facility and exported to Malaysia, where they are assembled for the local market.
