Toyota Urban Cruiser Icon SUV to be unveiled on May 15

The Urban Cruiser Icon is expected to be positioned above the Toyota Raize and could rival the Hyundai Creta.

Toyota is all set to unveil a new SUV called the 'Urban Cruiser Icon' on May 15, 2023. The new model will go on sale in Indonesia, followed by other ASEAN countries.

According to media reports, the Urban Cruiser Icon (codenamed: D03B) will be based on Daihatsu's DNGA platform, which also underpins models like the Toyota Avanza and Raize. It is said to be around 4.3 meters long and will offer seating for 5 people.

The Urban Cruiser Icon is expected to share its powertrains with the Raize. These include a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 97 BHP / 140 Nm and a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit with 87 BHP / 113 Nm. Reports suggest that the new SUV could also be offered with Toyota's 1.5-litre petrol engine.

In terms of pricing, the Urban Cruiser Icon is expected to be positioned above the Raize in the ASEAN market and could rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta. That being said, Toyota is unlikely to offer this SUV in India.
