Tesla Roadster's range increased to nearly 645 kms

Tesla has unveiled the Roadster 3.0 package. The upgraded model takes a three pronged approach to improving efficiency by reworking the battery, aerodynamics and rolling resistance.

Tesla claims to have identified a new cell that has 31% more energy than that of the original Roadster. Using a retrofit aero kit, Tesla has also dropped the car's drag coefficient from 0.36 to 0.31. Additional improvements include low roll resistance tyres and improved wheel bearings. When put together, these changes boost the Roadster's range up to nearly 645 kms. Tesla will be demonstrating this in the real world during a non-stop drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles in early 2015.
