Tata Nexon spotted in production-ready form

A set of spy shots of the production-ready Tata Nexon has surfaced on the Internet. Since the spotted model isn't disguised under heavy camouflage, it offers a glimpse into how the Nexon will look like in its final production avatar.

Tata had showcased a production-ready concept of the Nexon at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida. The compact SUV was also showcased recently at the 87th Geneva Motor Show, though the show car was said to be in the Geneva edition, which got some added cosmetic tweaks. However, the recent spy shots are said to have been taken at the company's production line. It can thus be termed as the first undisguised look of the India-spec model.

The Nexon is based on Tata's new IMPACT design language. The overall design of the compact SUV's production model is similar to that of the concept showcased at the Auto Expo last year. This includes a large black honeycomb grille similar to all other Tata products unveiled recently. The headlamps get projectors and DRLs, while the front bumper houses the fog lamps and a blacked out area of the center lower edge. In order to enhance the car's crossover looks, it has been given some prominent body cladding around the wheel arches and the door panels. The spotted model appears to be the top-end trim as it comes with alloy wheels and projector headlamps. It also gets ORVM mounted turn indicators and roof rails.

The Tata Nexon is expected to be offered with two engine options: a 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron petrol and a 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel. While both engines will get manual transmission as standard, the possibility of an AMT option can't be ruled out either.
