Tata Motors bags contract to supply 300 EVs to CESL

The contract requires the vehicles to measure less than 4 metres in length and come with a range of 250 km or more. The cars will be purchased at a base price of Rs. 14,33,000 per unit, exclusive of GST.

Convergence Energy Ltd (CESL), a subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) has placed an order with Tata Motors for the supply of 300 electric cars. CESL plans to deploy these vehicles to government organisations that are looking to replace their cars with EVs.

The contract requires these vehicles to measure less than 4 metres in length and come with a range of 250 km or more. They will also come with a warranty period of 3 years. These cars will be purchased at a base price of Rs. 14,33,000 per unit, exclusive of GST.

The contract is worth Rs. 44 crore (approximately). It will be implemented in two schedules. The first schedule will see the 300 cars being procured, while the second schedule will involve inland transportation, including loading, unloading, transfer to a designated location, transit insurance and other costs incidental to the delivery of the vehicles. This will be done at a cost of Rs, 21,000 per unit.

Tata Motors was the leader in electric car sales in India in FY 2020-21. It sold 4,216 units, which accounted for 64% of the total electric car sales in the country.
