Rumour: XUV300 electric to offer up to 400 km of range

Last week, Mahindra launched the XUV300 compact SUV. According to a media report, an electric version (codenamed: S210) is scheduled to be launched by 2020. It is expected to be offered in two variants - standard and long range.

The electric version is likely to use the same Ssangyong Tivoli-based platform that underpins the XUV300. Reports suggest that it could be powered by a 380 volt powertrain with lithium-ion batteries developed by LG Chem that have a high energy density. The standard version could have a maximum electric range of 200 km on a single charge, while the long range variant might be able to cover 350-400 km on a single charge.

Mahindra is not the only manufacturer that is planning to launch an electric SUV in the Indian market. Hyundai has already confirmed its plans to introduce the Kona EV, while Audi might bring the e-Tron to India sometime in late 2019.
