Rumour: VW T-Cross to be unveiled at 2020 Auto Expo

According to a media report, Volkswagen is likely to unveil the T-Cross compact SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The Volkswagen T-Cross is expected to be based on the MQB A0 IN platform with a wheelbase of 2,651 mm. The wheelbase of the India-spec T-Cross is said to be 90-100 mm longer than the European version. Reports suggest that VW might also raise the ride height of the car and could get a tweaked axle and suspension setup when it comes to India. The ground clearance for the India-spec car is said to be 205 mm.

The India-spec T-Cross is expected to get minor exterior tweaks including chrome bits on the front grille and bumper. On the inside, the car could get colour-matched trim, sunroof and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The T-Cross could be offered with a choice of two petrol engines. These are likely to include a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged unit with an output of 128 BHP. It could also feature cylinder-deactivation to improve fuel economy. The second engine is rumoured to be a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol producing 113 BHP. The T-Cross could also get CNG variants.
