Rumour: VW India diesel car recall to start from September

Earlier this year, Volkswagen announced that it was planning to recall 1.9 lakh cars in India (click here to read report). While it had claimed that it would issue the recall in July, it had delayed the same. According to media reports, the company has now revealed that the affected cars are likely to be recalled from this month (September).

Volkswagen has planned this recall in order to fix the emission software of diesel-powered cars. Approximately 1.9 lakh Volkswagen cars are expected to be covered under this recall. Additionally, 88,700 cars from Skoda and 36,500 cars from Audi are also expected to be recalled.

The company claims that said the proposal for the first set of technical measures has been submitted to the authorities. At present, it is awaiting approvals from ARAI.

Volkswagen is expected to communicate with the owners of the affected cars regarding this recall.
