Rumour: Tata's RaceMo sports car project up for sale

Tata Motors has reportedly put its RaceMo sports car project up for sale. According to a media report, the company has decided to sell its only sports car project along with stakes in other companies in a bid to raise funds.

The TAMO RaceMo was first showcased at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Following its unveiling, there were reports of Tata Motors planning to launch the car in India. However, the project was later shelved indefinitely due to its high cost of production.

Developed under the newly launched TAMO sub-brand, the RaceMo is based on a patented MOFlex Multi-Material Sandwich (MMS) structure. The mid-engined, 2-seater is powered by a 1.2-litre, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 187 BHP @ 6,500 rpm and 210 Nm of torque @ 2,500 rpm, which is paired with a 6-speed AMT with paddle shift. The Racemo is claimed to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in under 6 seconds.
