According to a media report, Maruti Suzuki is evaluating two new brands for India, one of which could be Nexa.
At present, all Maruti Suzuki models sold in India have the Suzuki badge. The media report suggests that models sold through the Nexa retail channel could be sold under a separate brand with a new badge. The carmaker is said to be exploring another brand that would be aimed at customers in the 25-35 age bracket.
If these reports are true, then Suzuki could have multiple sub-brands under its umbrella in the future. The move looks to be inspired by other Japanese brands like Honda, Toyota and Nissan. Honda sells cars under the Acura brand in select markets, while Toyota has Lexus and Daihatsu. Infiniti is a premium brand of Nissan, while Datsun caters to the opposite end of the spectrum.
